Beer With a Washington Story

Every Evergreen beer starts somewhere in Washington—our landscapes, legends, history, communities, and the occasional unexplained flying object.

Every Beer Has a Story...

The beer is only half the story.

From Washington's glaciers and volcanoes to Sasquatch sightings, UFO reports, military communities and local legends, every Evergreen name has a reason behind it.

And frankly, some of those reasons are weirder than others.

EVERGREEN INVASION

The Summer Washington Looked Up

In June 1947, something strange started happening in the skies over Washington.

Pilot Kenneth Arnold was flying near Mount Rainier when he reported seeing nine unusual objects moving rapidly through the sky. His account became national news and helped launch what would become the modern era of UFO sightings.

And Washington wasn't finished.

Just days later, reports of strange objects and unexplained debris near Maury Island added another chapter to the story. Whether you believe the explanations, the conspiracy theories, or something considerably more extraterrestrial, Washington earned itself a permanent place in UFO lore.

Evergreen Invasion Hazy IPA is our nod to that wonderfully weird piece of Washington history.

HARRY HENDERSON

Washington's Most Elusive Local

We have mountains, rainforests, volcanoes…and apparently a very large, very hairy resident who would prefer not to be photographed clearly.

Washington has one of the richest histories of Sasquatch sightings in the country, with stories stretching through the forests and mountains of the Pacific Northwest for generations.

Then Hollywood got involved.

The 1987 film Harry and the Hendersons brought Bigfoot out of the Washington woods and into pop culture, with much of the movie filmed right here in Washington State.

So naturally, we made him a beer.

Harry Henderson Brown Ale is our toast to Washington's favorite mystery—the local legend who has somehow managed to avoid a decent camera for all these years.

SKYJACKED

The Man Who Vanished Into the Northwest

On November 24, 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper boarded a flight from Portland to Seattle.

He handed a flight attendant a note, demanded $200,000 and four parachutes, and after receiving the ransom in Seattle, the plane took off again.

Somewhere over the Pacific Northwest, Cooper opened the rear stairs of the Boeing 727, jumped into the darkness—and disappeared.

The FBI investigation would last decades. Some of the ransom money was eventually discovered along the Columbia River, but Cooper himself was never conclusively found.

The press mistakenly called him D.B. Cooper, and the name stuck.

More than half a century later, nobody knows for certain what happened after he stepped out of that airplane.

Skyjacked Cascadian Dark is our tribute to one of Washington's greatest unsolved mysteries—dark as the forests Cooper disappeared into, with enough bright hop character to keep things interesting.

More Than a Name

Some Stories Mean a Little More

Some Evergreen beers were created to recognize communities, causes and partnerships that matter to us. From supporting local veterans to raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, sometimes what's behind the beer matters just as much as what's in the glass.
